About Us

In February 1962, Charles Richard “Dick” Wrightsel, his Father, Lantz Wrightsel, and Dick’s Uncle, Joe Saltz, pooled $30,000.00 dollars of their hard-earned, life savings to forge a family operated, wholly owned American company called Ross-Co Redi-Mix, employing family, friends, and partners within their first plant located at 689 Marietta Road, in Chillicothe, Ohio. As the years passed so, too, did Grandpa Lantz, and Uncle Joe. Before their passing, Dick groomed, trained, and employed four of his six children, Joe, Mike, Todd, and Connie, to fulfill family, community, and corporate responsibilities within the company.

With hard work, fierce determination, an insatiable thirst for success, competitors, and “cut-throats” going to great lengths to shut him down, Dick refused to compromise, stayed faithful to his cause, remained focused providing for his family, was driven by his uncompromising principles, and Dick lived by these core values: Lay foundations for a growing city; deliver high quality concrete to a diversified community of contractors; build an enduring legacy for his family, children, and city; maintain competitive prices in a capital intensive, highly competitive market; and provide American made products with professional services for his faithful clients and customers. Dick used to say, “Concrete is our business – Our only business!” As a result, service and satisfaction is our only mission! Dick achieved his dreams, and his legacy lives on.

Prior to Dick’s death, on August 13, 1988, due to complications from an unsuccessful heart transplant, Dick groomed his concrete savvy children to take charge of the family business before his imminent decease. Although Charles Richard Wrightsel has passed on to be with Jesus, his faith, his legacy, his hard-working values, and his uncompromising principles have not. Today, Connie, Todd, and other family members have taken the helm, continuing in the founders’ footsteps, providing the same high-quality concrete, customer satisfaction, and professional services today, as Dick did many years ago. For these reasons, the employees, staff, families, an friends of Ross-Co Redi-Mix are forever grateful and thankful for the faithfulness, friendship, loyalty, and trust our customers, our community, and our suppliers have placed in our care. Without you – our valued customers, hardworking employees, and loving families – Ross-Co Redi-Mix wouldn’t exist. We’re here to meet your concrete needs.
